Our story starts in 1970 when Alfred Carvalho Jr. met Shelaine Loma Lynn Ashley. They got married and had twin daughters, Jadean and Janel. A couple of years later, they had son, Dansen. Four years after that, they had Dayne. Then Darrid came along eight years later with Davin following 25 months later.
Sadly, we lost Dayne to suicide on February 22, 2009 and our lives changed forever. We will never know why this happened. All we know is that we never want another family to go through what we did, so we started a golf tournament for our family and friends to get together and reminisce good times of Dayne. That turned into raising funds for the Hawaii Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Finally, we decided to raise funds for a scholarship endowment for a Leeward Coast college student in an arts degree program. So, we started the Dayne Carvalho Foundation Inc. three years ago as a non-profit foundation.
